What Does Wellness Mean To You?
For us, it means finding ways to best meet the health needs of our community, whether that be through providing resources, offering support, or just encouraging you to utilize the Center and our programming in whatever ways possible. We have partnered with local businesses in the greater Philadelphia area that offer LGBT-friendly health and wellness alternatives, to offer you a wider choice of options when it comes to taking care of yourself and your loved ones.
Did You Know?
Our community faces a variety of barriers to healthcare, as well as health issues that specifically affect our population at disproportionate rates. High rates of tobacco use is one of them. In 2014 LGBT people were clearly delineated as a population experiencing tobacco disparities. According to the 50th Annual Surgeon General’s Report:
- 33% of the LGBT population smokes in comparison to 20% of the US population
- LGBT people smoke cigarettes at a rate 68% higher than the general population
PA Quitline
If you make the decision to go smoke-free, the PA Free Quitline is a free program that provides helpful tools, information and support throughout your quit process. Learn more. https://pa.quitlogix.org/
