Archives Receives Grant to Preserve Historical LGBTQ Audio Cassettes

The John J. Wilcox, Jr. Archives at William Way LGBT Community Center in Philadelphia has been awarded a $23,650 Recordings at Risk grant from the Council on Library and Information Resources (CLIR). The grant will cover the costs of reformatting over 100 historical cassette tapes from the Archives' Tommi Avicolli Mecca collection and put them online for access to anyone with a computer or mobile device.

William Way LGBT Community Center announces two exhibits featuring the history of LGBTQ rights in the United States

Philadelphia, PA, June 14, 2018 -- Following the success of its national exhibit "Speaking Out For Equality: The Constitution, Gay Rights & the Supreme Court" at the National Constitution Center in 2015, the William Way LGBT Community Center announces two additional exhibits on the same theme.

The John J. Wilcox, Jr. Archives at William Way LGBT Community Center is pleased to announce the public unveiling of its Digital Collections site and the release of over 120 hours of digitized audio files from the Tommi Avicolli Mecca cassette tapes on LGBTQ history.
