American Sign Language 101 with Michael Flynn. Expose yourself to a different style of communication and learn the basics of ASL. This will be an introductory class in ASL, used by the Deaf community across the US. You will learn the alphabet, beginners' signs, and be conversing in basic ASL sentences by the end of the camp. No previous knowledge necessary. Instructor Michael has been teaching at William Way and other places since the 1980s and has been one of the main interpreters at Dignity/Philadelphia and Dignity/USA for over 30 years, interpreting for LGBT+ organizations and rallies over the years. Class dates: Wednesdays, Oct 24, 31, Nov 7, 14, 21, 28, Dec 5, 12 from 6:30-8:30 pm. 8 sessions for $105 members/$120 non-members. Held in the Board Room, an accessible room. Beginners' Line Dancing with Michael Flynn. Have you ever sat on the sidelines at Woody's and thought, "How in the heck are they doing that?", but were too intimidated to throw yourself into the mix? This course will teach you the very basics of Country Line Dancing and will equip you with the skills you need to be a star on the dance floor. Depending on the level of the participants, dances will include: Tush Push, Texas Cha Cha, Chill Factor and many other beginner and intermediate dances. Put on those cowboy/girl boots and get ready for some two steppin' fun! No partner needed. Instructor Michael has taught Country and Western Line Dancing at Woody’s for the past twenty years. Join this workshop to hone your public speaking skills with instructor Ben Robinson III who is an award winning public speaker through Toastmasters International.
