This exhibition highlights artworks by Queer-American women artists living and working in Philadelphia. Each of these artists’ artworks challenges the history, and traditional conceptions of portraiture. What draws the viewer towards many of these portraits is the direct, dynamic encounter that can be experienced face to face. It is as if the images will not leave one alone, but insist on being seen and engaged.
