Rainbow Reading Book Club: “Owls Don’t Have to Mean Death” by Chip Livingston

3d Wednesdays

As a child, Peter Strongbow learned owl sightings were bad luck. A hooting in the night, eerie screeches that echoed into bedrooms were omens. His Creek Indian ancestors  taught Peter to walk the land when he needed to think things over, which Peter found himself doing more often since learning his boyfriend Cache, the love of his life, has AIDS. Peter turns to his native community and family for help in understanding how to heal and hold on to an ailing earth in this novel of hope and adversity.
