Rainbow Reading Book Club: “No Ashes in the Fire: Coming of Age Black and Free in America”, Darnell L. Moore

Moore is an award-winning writer, a leading Black Lives Matter activist, and an advocate for justice and liberation. Here he shares the journey taken by a scared, bullied teenager who not only survived, but found his calling. His transcendence over the myriad forces of repression is a testament to the grace & care of people who loved him, & his hometown, Camden, NJ. Scarred & ignored, but brimming with life, Moore reminds us that liberation is possible if we commit ourselves to fighting for it, & if we dream & create futures where those who survive on society's edges can thrive. It’s a story of beauty & hope, & an honest reckoning with family, place, & what it means to be free.

Join our book club for commitment-phobes. Each month there’s a new genre with many titles, available for free.  Come every time or drop in when a selection intrigues you. All are LGBTQ-related & readers will be invited to discuss them in person & online beforehand.
